  We have visited St John at least a dozen times over the last 9 years having rented at least 7 or 8 different villas over that period. Reef Madness rates among the very best experiences we've had. I highly recommend it!!
  
  It is a small villa but the layout works really well. It's a great spot for one couple, but it can accommodate 2 couples nicely. It is very romantic, private and has nice views of Coral Bay. The owners clearly know what a Villa vacation is all about. The pool area is intimate and the iPod-ready stereo and outdoor speakers are set up so you can hear your vacation playlists without having to crank it up too loud... (One suggestion I would make is to trim back the vegetation growing up beyond the infinity edge pool. The point of the infinity edge is to see "infinity" beyond the edge of the pool, so seeing bushes grow up 2 feet beyond the start of "infinity" sort of misses the point).
  
  I have to say, we were very happy with everyone at Viva. Our greeter was lovely and very professional and the villa was well stocked with all everyday items we needed... Also worth mentioning; the welcome basket was thoughtfully put together with some wonderful goodies. Yes, I know it's a small thing, but it kind of reflects the care that Viva seems to put into their work. .. I can't say that for all the villa rental services we've booked through over the years (hint: some of those places come up ahead of Viva in a Google search)
  
  Oh, and about the drive up to the house?? It shouldn't bother an experienced St John villa renter but it could be a little unnerving for a first timer.

  Overall everything,the location ,the vistas,beaches, were all something we will always remember and hope to make an annual event!
  We love St John!Its a fabulous getaway.
  Things which could have made the experience even better and for other guests:
  It would have been extremely useful to have a list of restaurants which were actually OPEN.I realize it was September but..
  At the villa-several things did not work which for this quality of villa really should be.Dishwasher,ice machine,front left burner of the stove.We also found the air conditioning units in the main house and bedrooms very loud.
  Every time the first floor bedroom unit came on it woke us up.
  We will be back!

    Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your most recent stay at Reef Madness. We’re so happy that you enjoyed your visit! a. Thank you for your suggestion of getting lists of open restaurants..this list comes out late in the Season and often changes but we do provide this information to guests upon request. Because the list changes, we’ve found posting it in the villa’s restaurant guide a tiresome process of constantly trying to keep updated. b. Dishwasher/ice maker-earlier in the month, we had a series of brownout/surges that impacted both appliances. We are still waiting on parts to be shipped from the mainland but made sure to send a bag of ice out to the villa. Additionally, the refrigerator has an ice machine that is functional. Regardless, we understand this inconvenience. c. Stove-the stove is functional. The burner cap may have been shifted when cleaning. It has to be completely straight to function optimally. We’ve informed both housekeeper and maintenance staff to include this check of the burner cap in their checklists and also have informed out greeters to avoid this miscommunication in the future. We’re so happy to have your feedback and the opportunity to improve our services at Reef Madness. We look forward to having you back soon to enjoy a completely functional ice maker and dishwasher!   Reef Madness is a beautiful villa. We enjoyed our stay very much. The driveway and Seagrape Hill are definitely not for the faint of heart. We believe the view was worth it though. We did have a few hiccups. The half bath toilet leaked, the ice maker stopped
  working and leaked all over the kitchen, and landscapers showed up when they had been asked not to. Viva was very responsive to problems. I've stayed with another on island villa company that was not, so that was much appreciated. I would stay here again if
  it were only my husband and I - there just isn't enough comfortable seating in the living area for more than 2 adults.

The views at Reef Madness make the journey up SeaGrape Hill well worth it...and we often say that once you visit St. John, guests can all be certified as 'expert drivers'.   We loved it! Everything in the villa is high quality and it's obvious the owners put their heart and soul into it. The full house air conditioning was a major plus. We had an issue with the downstairs bedroom air conditioning and within hours Viva had it fixed. From the photos of the living area, we didn't expect it to be cozy but it was. The leather sofa was extremely comfortable but an additional soft chair would have been nice. When others said the drive up to the villa was difficult, we laughed because we're used to St. John roads and villa driveways. They weren't kidding!! Seagrape Hill road is the steepest drive we've ever encountered. It took awhile to get used to but it was well worth it knowing what waited for us on the top of the hill.

  The villa is perfect and so comfortable! Great views of the bay and mountains. This was our first visit to St. John and this was a great location for exploring the many beaches on the North, South and East End for hiking, snorkeling and relaxing. Many of the nearby restaurants are really good, so no need to go back to Cruz Bay for dinner & the local grocery stores have everything you would need. Viva service was perfect and the welcome basket was much appreciated. We will be back!

  This villa was beautiful. It was well equipped and perfectly decorated. The infinity pool was wonderful for cooling off or jumping in after a day at the beach. The drive up the driveway was hard to navigate but it was worth it once arriving at the house. The only thing I would have wished was that there were more couches or lounge chairs to accomodate 4 peoeple watching tv. I would stay there again.

  Reef Madness Villa was a treat to stay in. We would like to make it a yearly destination! The view has little comparison--it was breath taking. The drive up Seagrape Hill might be the only thing that some folks find daunting. The villa's decor and "flow" was beyond measure. One of our favorite villa pastimes was swimming over to the infinity pool edge and watching the happenings in Coral Bay. We would give Reef Madness the highest rating possible.

  This is a fabulous villa. We shared with long-time friends. The house is immaculate, the kitchen well-stocked, and the pool is the highlight of every day! We spent at least 2 hours in the pool each day, with frozen drinks in hand! The location right above Coral Bay couldn't be better.

  The house was amazing. The town of coral bay offers several bars and restaurants and the house is about a 10 minute drive from the north shore beaches and 30 minutes to Cruz Bay. Don't forget to rent a jeep or other 4 wheel-drive car- its a must for the driveway and off road beach trails. The house had everything we could want and we were very happy and comfortable. Thank you!

  Beautiful, well-appointed villa - owners thought of everything - very comfortable and private accomodations with fantastic pool & views! The steep drive up the hill to the villa was a little daunting at first, but we quickly got used to it.

• The driveway was a surprise.We loved coral bay though it took afew days to find our way around. We wish one of us would have ridden with our rep using the north shore road and pointed out beaches and restaurants.

  Only drawback was the driveway. Very steep and the last switchback a bit difficult and tough on the vehicle. Other than that the house was beautiful and the view was excellent.

  This was our second stay at Reef Madness and we enjoyed our time there just as much this year as last. The view, the pool, the furnishings, the maturing gardens etc. are all contributors to a great location to get away from the real world for awhile. We've vacationed in six other Caribbean islands but St. John is our favorite. We like the Coral Bay area for it's proximity to both the north shore and south shore beaches, unique little eaterys, and the addition of a nice little market in Coral Bay is a plus. The island roads are "fun" to drive, torture to run and always give us something to talk about. It is for us an ideal place to perfect the art of doing nothing.
