Our greeter, Liz i think (a baker from Vt) was terrific, knoweldgeable and professional. I called once for a full gas grill tank and because I was having trouble with the doors; maintenance came immediately and was professional, freindly and effective, taking the few minutes I needed to figure out the doors properly. No complaints.

GREAT LOCATION!! PERFECT HOUSE!! THE VIEW WAS SPECTACULAR! WE LOVED COMING BACK AFTER THE BEACH FOR HAPPY HOUR SITTING BY THE POOL OVERLOOKING THE OCEAN! clean beautiful property with top ammenities. however, first floor too hot and picture doors difficult to operate and too hot on first floor. need ac or screen to get more cross breeze

The 'picture doors' require operation of one door at a time-they are too heavy to try to open all at once. We loved St. John's, but did not come at a good time as it rained every day (and sometimes all day) except one. Therefore, we did not get to enjoy all the villa had to offer nor the Island for that matter. We hope to try it again, but it will not be in May!

This was our 5th visit to St John and our 2nd year in a row staying at Sopra Mare. The house is new, extremely clean, and has adorable decor. The location couldn't be more perfect. You are a short drive from Cruz Bay and the best beaches. The landscaping is starting to mature and provides privacy when sitting around the pool, deck area. The 180 degree view off of the deck is amazing. The owner of the villa is very kind and helpful, and the Viva Villa staff is awesome. The housekeeper is great. I was expecting a brief visit for a towel exchange for the mid-week cleaning, and we came home to a spotless villa!! We are planning another trip to St John next year and Sopra Mare is our top pick.

Sopra Mare is a beautiful private villa, well-located in a nice neighborhood near (but not too near) Cruz Bay. It has a breathtaking 180 degree view of the Caribbean with lovely breezes that make the home comfortable throughout the day. The home is quiet and feels secluded, although the trip to town is a relatively short one. Sopra Mare has a modern, comfortable design and is perfectly furnished. We have already made our reservations for a return stay next year.

The vacation started with great help from Christine at ViVa before we arrived. When we arrived to the Villa the mood was set for a great vacation. Jazz music fulled the air and fresh flowers everywhere. They provided everything you would need for a great vacation. Our greeter give us all the information we need for a great stay. She was the best. If you are coming to St.John and stay at Sopra Mare you will not reget it the most beautiful views on the island. Bring only a small suitcase because ViVa will supply you with everthing you will need.From shampoo to beach bags. I would recommend bug stray for sitting outdoors.
Our stay at Sopra Mare was really exceptional. The property is comfortable and inviting. The views from the front of the house are exceptional - 180 degree view of the ocean from the home. The staff associated with the house are extremely accommodating. Due to winter weather, we arrived 8 hours later than expected and the greeter (Nyesha)met us at 1030PM and brought us to a grocery store given that our luggage had not arrived and we needed some basic things. Christine from VIVA was impressively attentive and gracious. We have visited St. John several times but hands down, this was the best place that we've rented and we will be back again.

This home is a dream. Lots of room, sleeps 6, and is spacious. High ceilings, entire walls that open up to the ocean view. House seems brand new, and the neighborhood is very quiet/safe. View is beyond spectacular, as opposed to other homes that overlook the resorts or bays full of docked boats.High enough above the water to avoid the occasional boat noise.

We found Sopra Mare to be all we had hoped for, and much more! We loved the location, which was just 10 minutes from downtown, but worlds away with the solitude and views. The pool was wonderfully refreshing and comfortable. The big glass doors in the living room and bedroom fold open and create an entirely open-air experience. The kitchen was well equipped with almost anything you would need to use for cooking and the grill came in handy, too. We spent 2 weeks and had maid service twice and pool service 3 times. I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience it was!

An excellent, well maintained villa with awesome, unobstructed views & situated in such a way that there was always a breeze on the balconies. The staff was great at orientating us to the island and features of the Villa & were quick to respond when a window crank stopped working. Highly recommended with no second thoughts.

None of the 3 phones in the Villa work. Although not a big problem we did need to use our cell phone a few times which is not cheap. Also, the TV reception was terrible. Again not a big issue since we were not there to watch it (except for the Monday night Packer game).

Sopra Mare was everything we expected and more. As soon as we arrived, we opened up the sliding glass wall and doors and felt like we were in paradise. We were pleasantly surprised by the villa's privacy and the tropical landscaping by the pool. We had wonderful breezes every day -- no need for A/C downstairs. The views were magnificent from every room and the location was perfect (just a short ride into town). We had Villa Foods stock our fridge prior to our arrival and it was truly wonderful to have everything waiting there for us. We just sat back with a frozen drink and relaxed as soon as we arrived. We cooked a few meals and found everything we needed in the fully stocked kitchen. Of course, the most important appliance was the blender. The staff at Viva Villas is just wonderful. Christine responded immediately to any questions we had along the way and checked in on us to make sure we were having a great time at Sopra Mare. Our greeter Andretti met us at the dock and was very sweet. She walked us to St. John Car Rental (book early) and we followed her to Sopra Mare. We could not have asked for better service. A fantastic vacation!

We were generally very pleased. The 2 complaints we had were that the pool wasn't cleaned mid week as stated. The weather was good, so that wouldn't have prevented it from being cleaned. It wasn't cleaned until Friday. Also the washer had a horrible musty smell.

The Sopra Mare was ready for us to enjoy. Just the place to go to unwind from the usual and enjoy the time away. Sopra Mare is a well thought out "guest house" to enjoy the open view of the Carribean Sea from wakeup time till go to sleep time. Open the folding doors on the south side of the main floor and the main bedroom and let the breeze do the work. We were completely impressed with the views and the thought put into our possible needs while there. We cooked in and on the grill and never needed anything for the kitchen - it was all there! We sat on the wrap-around porch and gazed across the water night after night...beauty to behold. Evenings brought shooting stars, the Southern Cross, and the breeze. Daytime brought the water and the beauty all around. We'll go back!

Sopra Mare was a beautiful property that offered great views...both sunrise & sunset, along with a great location on a bluff only 5 minutes from Cruz Bay. The owner had the villa fully equipped for a comfortable stay and we loved our time there. Would highly recommend and are hoping to return.

We had a great time. It was definitely a different trip for us with a newborn. The accommodations were perfect for us. beautiful view from the balcony. Easy to get to grocery/restaurants/Cruz Bay by car.

Sopre Mare offers the vast unobstructed views of an ocean liner---sea forever in daylingt and the Milky Way in the pitch black sky at night. Windows on three sides of the well-designed new house and a small pool outside overlooking the ocean were star features for our week away from the northern winter. Snorkeling was only a short jeep ride away on white sand beeches in the National Park. Tennis was a five minute ride. Many fine restaurants surprised us, but grocery stores started at double Whole Food prices. An unforgettable luxury vacation on an island of nature. We can only gush.

My husband, daughter and I chose Sopra Mare as our home base for an early winter trip to St. John, looking forward to sunny beach days and doing some snorkeling and diving. We did enjoy each moment on, in and under the beautiful waters all around us, but what we had not anticipated was how much we would love coming “home” each day. From the moment we entered the gate of Sopra Mare, it too became a part of our wonderful St. John days and nights. The villa is beautifully designed and decorated with attention to every detail. On the two levels the entire side of the villa overlooking the sea is floor to ceiling windows that open completely. You are close enough to the water to hear the waves yet you have the sensation of being suspended in the sky with a perfect perch for watching the amazing Caribbean sunrises, sunsets and rainbows. At night the star filled sky surrounds you, truly a falcon's roost (We were delighted to have a female kestrel visit us each evening). Yet with this very private view we also had a location convenient to Cruz Bay. Viva Villas helped make our arrival, stay and departure seamless and care free. It was a great vacation!

Sopra Mare was brand new when we arrived. We were the first to use the house and everything was meticulously clean and fresh. The chef (my husband) gives the kitchen 5 stars for equipment and counter space. No matter where you stand in the house the view is stunning. We were so comfortable we barely ventured out for the first few days. We will be back!
